Margit Niederhuber: Women underrepresented in the music business
Women in the music business - as composers, producers and musicians they are underrepresented. Looking at the internet, music stores or festival programs shows this discrimination.
Also the content often mirrors male perspectives - sexist music videos and blunt enimity towards women in lyrics and gestures. To shed light at the connections of different cotexts of discrimination like gender and geography and to develop equal working conditions is highly necessary especially in transition phases as we have today.
Margit Niederhuber works as a director, curator and in dramaturgy. She consults for women- and culture-projects with a focus in southern Africa. Publications on gender and politics.
