fair music talks at Ars Electronica and the fair music award
On September 8th 2007 at Ars Electronica in Linz a round of experts including Chris Gelbmann (Buntspecht Label), Volker Grassmuck (Humboldt University Berlin), Joichi Ito (Neoteny / Creative Commons), Ronaldo Lemos (Overmundo / iCommons Brasilia), Margit Niederhuber (repr. Austria Commission for UNESCO), Danny O’Brien (Electronic Frontier Foundation) und Peter Rantasa (mica -music austria) discussed questions of structural change in the music business as a chance for empowerment of artists and listeners, endangered cultural diversity in a global landscape of inequalities and how models for fairness work.
That night the first winners of the 2007 fair music awards for achievements for fairness in the music business were presented.
The event was realized by mica – music austria and the World Culture Forum (WCFA) in cooperation with Ars Electronica and with support from the European Commission, Program Education and Culture.
